Dear Brett:

I need to know the make of your HASL equipment to recommend a specific
flux. Does the manufacturer of your equipment have a recommendation?
Or, if you are currently using a product which affords acceptable
results, measure the surface tension and viscosity of the product and
shop for replacements that offer similar physical properties in addition
to employing acid activators which are halide free. Keep in mind
however it is not only the acid which contributes to ionic
contamination. The concentration of the acid and water solubility of
the base fluid(s) are also very important. As is optimizing your post
clean process.

Please feel free to call if you have addtional questions.

Regards,
Ted Stern
