Hi Bill

what's this "almost 2000" ? ; very subtle ; poor 2KY man will never live
this one down .

yes; have recently done so; spend US $ 170K or so on the UPT (United
Technology Products) carpet for machinery area = SMT room ;
David is right ; the silence , comfort ; retackable tiles facilitating
damage exchange ; etc. is a dream ;
unfortunately despite having reasonable VP , he was not game enough to lay
the whole area of some 5Km/2 with it ;
it's still to "new ; unusual ; unproven ; etc. )
so the rest went with TORO/ = Dathwyler/Sommer/Tarket ; or whoever took over
who (most annoying this takeovers) carbon fused and backed vinyl on
conductive glue with copper foil strip grid .
Before we got in to the new place our ever consciencious brother cleaner
started to polish it with clear compound ;
superbly shiny ; however properly insulating any dissipative properties thus
nulling the effect to sub zero !
Did not have the heart (surprised myself with that chest discovery) to
scream ; just resignedly requested strip out of his diligent work ;
and left out non critical areas .

As you'd likely know ; the conductive floor may be a killer (unless you work
in fireworks or ammo shops [seen interesting ones = a lot of shacks
separated by hills of gravel > when one goes the shock wave does not sweep
the rest ]) ;
therefore after researching all of the BS's ; DIN's and EFD's I opted for
the later as FDA inspectors like something they've seen and understood .
Therefore bearing in mind your request for absence of major literally pieces
(hope the 2KY man won't bite) ;
one thing (for it's clarity) I'd recommend : get your little hot hands on
the latest ESD Association's CD ; read through it ; and simply go with it .
GET YOURSELF ABSOLUTELY CLEAR ON THE IMPEDANCES AND GROUNDS ; IT IS A PRIME
SAFETY ISSUE .
No point point in terms of "conductive or antistatic" ; the regulatory set
standards are quite specific ( and legaly bounding, especially in your court
obsessed homeland ) .
The euros as usual have tendencies to be more complex for no reason ;
the ionisers (apart from 90% in burn wards - kills airborne germs [Austria]
and 30% in production ; increased efficiencies - "mountain air" negative
ions of oxygen bounds better with positive hemoglobin cells [Israel;
Russia]);
for the common dust grounding effect (thats what the carpet does so well)
may not interest you ;
just bout it ?

When you do costing DO point out the massive maintenance savings (vinyl
needs just soap wash weekly > the plasticiser within raises to surface to be
dry polished once a year ; the carpet is better still ; just let loose you
your robovac overnight )

Let me know if need more major piece .

See you Bill
