Your best bet is to pick up a copy of IPC TMRC '98 [Is it out yet? - check http://www.ipc.org].
Here are a few numbers from TMRC '96.
Total US PWB sales in 1996: $7,175,000,000.
Average cost per PWB: $5.80.
Domestic laminate shipments: 304MSF @ $897M.
You can do the math...
Soldermask usage in dollars: dry film - $6M, LPI - $80M, Screen - $9M.
If I had to take a guess on SM unit price, I'd use an average of $0.45-$0.55/SF, but the SM manufacturers would be a better source.

I am writing my thesis and I need some numerical data to include. The
information I am looking for is:
* Annual production of printed circuit boards in the World or United
States in square miles or relevant unit.
* Annual usage of solder resist in the World or United States in
gallons or relevant unit.
* Percentage of World or United States production that is done by
using the curtain coating method.
* Percentage of World or United States production that is done by
using the screen coating method.
* Citations for any information provided.
Any and all information to any of the above requests is greatly
appreciated.
Thank you,
Aaron
