Hi Steve, still remembering the Steve day, but sorry to get back to you later with what I think the problem might be with your Soltec Prisma. The name sounds like you have a very fancy wavesoldering machine.

Steve, after dissecting your SOS messages, I don*t think I can help you for the difficult part of your life*s struggle. My advise is go and talk to God via Jesus. Being said that, I hope I am not toooo late to give my input helping you with the wavesoldering problem. Hey, every wavesoldering machine manual sucks, Electrovert manuals are the sucker of all suckers.

From reading your messages, it is not easy to pinpoint the cause and solution, however, from the similar problem I had with one of our Electrovert wavesoldering machines two years ago, I believe, I think and I say I know why the chain is wrapping itself around the motor sprocket. The obvious cause is the chain links are sticky but why? Cleaning and re-greasing did not help as you have tried. Many tiny solder particles attached themselves like parasites on various parts of chain links causing a bumping ride and wrapping around the sprocket as you described. What we did was we removed all fingers on the section of chain where tiny solder particles attached themselves to chain links, and torched those suckers alive with a propane torch. After the cool down, cleaned and re-greased. Put everything back together and it worked smoothly ever since.

Let us know this is the problem, I would like to get some feedback how you fixed the problem later on.

Anyway, how much are you going to pay for me to zip down there, and fiddle the problem for you? I wanna see that US $X0000.00 on the PO. Hey, did you say *What about my current employer?* No problem at all! My current employer is closing down the manufacturing operation within two months. I will be out of work and be in line to collect EI (Canadian gov*t used to call that UI, meaning unemployment insurance). What do you call that in US? I heard there*re more gold mines in our southern neighbor*. Isn*t it used be *Young man, go West to seek a fortune* It looks like I have to go East or South to seek a fortune.

Hi Ya'll...

As I said yesterday, I'm back in here again today trying to deal with my
down wave solder machine. I'm having a very difficult time trying to get a
hold of anyone from Soltec so I can at least set-up having a tech come out on
Monday if at all possible...got the PO in hand but can't get in touch with
anybody there. Supposedly, if you go to their WEB page and look under Service
and Support, they say they have a 24-hr, 365-days a year, support number which
you can call whenever you need help...all I can say about that is; bull-s#%t!

I was given a separate number to call for Soltec problems when I called
their main support number (1-800-4REFLOW, which is just a message answering
service) and nobody answers...not even a voicemail system there where you
could at least leave a message. If it sounds like I'm a little torque'd, you'd
be correct...and if it sounds like I'm being too harsh with this company then
so be it.

If they say they're gonna support you 24-hrs a day, 365-days a year then
do it! Don't leave us hanging like this! I'm at a very small shop and when my
wave solder machine goes down I'm screwed! I don't have a back-up machine, or
a second line where I can just move everything over...hell, we're so small I'm
maintenance, process, quality, and production all in one. I know that's nobody
else's problem except for mine, but if anybody is dying for help from our wave
machine vendor it's me!

There, got that off my chest...I feel a little better now...but my wave
is still down. Does anybody know of a good third party maintenance
organization here in silicon valley that I could call that might want to work
on my wave? I gotta do something...we're dead in the water here.
