hi,
the silicone adhesive sealants require moisture (read humidity), not
temperature, to polymerize. if you are placing it under your smt device it
effectively makes it more difficult for the moisture to penetrate throughout
the material to cure it (read long cure times). there are other materials
you could use that would do the same job and cure faster.

Subject: [TN] RTV for SMT components
I have a board which has failed shock and vibe testing, due to a SMT
component breaking off. I have been told to use an RTV to hold the part on.
Could I please get some help. What is an RTV? Who do I get them from? Is
there automated ways of applying? I would be more than happy to hear from
vendors, but maybe they should respond directly to me.
