Thanks for the concern. I have a subscription to SMT, and I have several months
copies on my desk. Too busy to check them out for now. Hopefully, I will be able
to do so in late March. I just wanted to know if a certain volume of paste was
optimal for a certain size part. There was a reply that there were not or should
not be any standards on this issue, but I tend to disagree. If a certain amount
and type of paste is used for a certain size part on a certain pad size, the
optimum results should be achieved. Optimum being the best looking filet with
the best mechanical and electrical properties proven by testing the joint. I
thought somebody else would have figured this out by now, and I just wanted to
sponge off of them. I guess I will have to keep up the trial and error, or the
learn from experience, whichever you want to call it. We have good results with
FTC in our current process, but I thought there would have been further studies
on this matter, with results kind of like a cookie recipe. That is why I posted
to this standards forum in the first place. I guess nothing exists that is as
cut and dry as I was looking for.
