On hand soldering tip temperature:

Is there a range of values over which the temperature of a tip may vary,
besides the tolerance of the temperature measuring device?

With respect to the geometry of the tip (say Plato C-593 or C-3102 type
geometries) how much can the temperature vary from the nominal temperature
listed for a particular tip?

Thanks.
