Hi Steve,

I've wave soldered mini-r-packs like you've described in your mail. They
worked out very well,
the only thing was that they were orientated correctly and had thieving /
robber pads.

With respect to the other issues with components... is it possible to
selectively solder the board?

Regards,

Neil Roche.

Subject: Re: [TN] Weird Gerber Problem-FIXED, Now: Waving Chip Networks...

Hi Richard!

Well, I got some gerbers now that have the QFP in it like it was
supposed
to, don't really have an answer as to why it wasn't in there before. In the
email with the correct gerbers attached to it, all the customer said was
that
he was at a loss why it didn't have the QFP there. He said that when he
worked
on it yesterday it was there on his 'pooter monitor, and when I got the
files,
it wasn't. No reason why though...

I've got just one more question for ya'll and it has to do with this
board (I forgot to ask earlier). The board has chip resistor networks on
it,
and they're on the bottom (11 of them). I've printed paste and reflowed
chip
networks before, but never have waved them...how do they do? Plus, on this
board they've been laid-out where the pads are parallel to the board
travel...there's also a 25-mil pitch 28-pin SOIC as well, but it's laid out
where the pads are perpendicular to board travel the way it's supposed to
be,
but still...I don't have a warm and fuzzy about waving it.

I have a bone stock Soltec Prisma with a foam fluxer...nothing fancy.
This is one of those PC104 boards that I talked about a month or so ago.
I'd
rather double reflow than mess with glue, but T & T (Trang and Tran) will
be
hand soldering 104-pins on those connectors. If I don't wave, they'll be
looking at another 100 or so pins to hand solder because the board has 2
other
right-angle connectors, a 16-pin dip IC, and a couple of headers that goes
in
it.

It's no big deal with these 10 proto boards, I'm probably gonna go
ahead
and hand-solder the PTH...I'm just thinking ahead what I should down the
road
for production.

As always, Thanking you in advance!!
