Mark: Is it the case that know one is confident enough to jump in at the
deep end or are we going to be faced with the same situation that we had
with the CFC ban and have to face hundreds of different process
combinations??
Bob: Yes. Exactly. And Both. Actualy, some of us have already taken the
"jump" while others are waiting for survival and injury statistics. Still
others will pretend there's no need for any change, but since none of my
clients employ vacuum tube socket patterns in their circuit designs, modern
component technologies have driven us to "jump".

Mark: By the way, you think that this lead ban is over the top but did you
hear about the EC banana straightness ruling a few years ago.
Bob: Mark! I'm surprised to learn that English gentlemen are engaged in
conversations over the straightening of their bananas. Be prepared for a
flurry of responses from this side of the Pond, including Why there's no
need to straighten your bananas, and How it's never been conclusively proven
that a banana can be straightened, and that the Available Data concerning
the practice of banana straightening is inadequate, and of course that
bananas will not stay straightened in Extreme Environments, and what is the
long-term Reliablity of a straightened banana anyway, and that you'll need a
population of millions of straight bananas before deserving serious
consideration.
Mostly this will come from a group that finds comfort and satisfaction in
keeping their bananas curved.

I say to you Brits: Damn the Curve - Go Bananas!

Subject: [TN] Lead Removal (for the Final Time)

All this debating is great (except for the derogatory comment about the size
of our motor vehicles), BUT.....

I haven't read any definitive opinions on what will be the best alloy and
process's to use. Is it the case that know one is confident enough to jump
in at the deep end or are we going to be faced with the same situation that
we had with the CFC ban and have to face hundreds of different process
combinations??

By the way, you think that this lead ban is over the top but did you hear
about the EC banana straightness ruling a few years ago.

A very confused (English) Process Engineer.
