        Jim: Since you didn't state what it is you are trying to measure or the
resolution required I can't give you an exact instrument type. However if you
are trying to measure such things as polymer thick film or soldermask thickness
and/or topography; or all the way down to things like copper surface roughness
or scrub patterns, I would contact: Tencor Instruments Metrology Div. Santa
Clara Ca.  408-970-9500. They make a wide variety of surface profiling and
measurement instrumentation.

Does anyone one out there know of a gauge that can be run over the =
surface of a product and record the lowest and highest point. We have =
these with dials you can watch but I'm not aware of one that can =
"record" the extremes.
