Thankyou everyone for your help with this. Seems like some there is some
disagreement about how successful this will be, so perhaps I can give you
some more detail.

The component is a 36 pin SSOP. It has gull wing leads (I've never seen a
gull with wings that shape) that are 0.4+/- 0.05 mm wide, and with a foot
0.5+/-0.2mm long. Obviously the pitch is 0.8mm.

The leads are Alloy 42.

Soldering machine is a full tunnel nitrogen machine, mountains of preheat,
spray fluxer, good stable wave and a chip wave. The product will be a high
volume consumer item, cheap pcb material, cheap resist, no money to spend
on rework. It is not feasible to reflow this little beast, so we have no
choice but to wavesolder.

By the way, in defence of David Muscat, I can say that there was no
suggestion from him that he would be charging for his services. Perhaps
his message was a little misleading, but I spoke to him offline and there
was no problem.

Thanks for your support
