The full title of IEC-950 is "Safety of Information Technology
Equipment, including Electrical Business Equipment"

It is a specification designed to test how well the equipment is
designed (in terms of electrical safety).

It has been harmonised by the European Union as EN60950 and can be used
to demonstrate conformity with the Low Voltage Directive (again
electrical safety).
