Oh, yes! More so. The European Draft Directive on electronic waste (WEEE) will
have us all lead free by 2004. There is a link on The SMART Group web page to
the directive, which is likely to be passed. (http://www.smtuk.demon.co.uk and
click on the "News" link.) The Department of Trade and Industry is working
hard in conjunction with trade groups like The SMART Group, PCIF, etc to
examine the ramifications of this proposed legislation. There is a SMART Group
all day seminar tomorrow on the topic (High Wycombe, sold out), and further
ones are organised by our Irish and Scottish SMARTies.
