PWB/ELECTRONICS ASSEMBLY EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE AVAILABLE ON IPC WEBSITE

Northbrook, IL 11/19/98

Companies in the electronics assembly and printed wiring board (PWB) industries now
have a new source to sell and buy used manufacturing equipment. IPC has created a
new website at www.ipc.org/html/equipment.htm that companies can use to post
information about equipment that they are selling or equipment they need to buy.

IPC created the website to respond to member requests. "Over the years there have
been numerous requests on TechNet from people looking to buy equipment, and
occasionally companies trying to sell, which is frowned on by the users of the
TechNet listservs," says IPC Vice President of Technical Programs David Bergman.
"This new on-line service was created to provide IPC members with a free alternative
to exchange information on used equipment."

Used equipment listings are posted one to two days following submission, and remain
on the site for a period of three months. Sellers are asked to include the following
information for their equipment:

  · Category of Equipment for Sale, either electronics assembly and test or PWB
manufacturing equipment

  · Description of Equipment including manufacturer, model number and year of
manufacture

  · Contact Information including location and owner of the equipment and asking
price

While only IPC members can list equipment they want to sell, all companies are
welcome to take advantage of the "Manufacturing Equipment Needed" section of the
website. Here companies list the manufacturer and model number of the equipment
they're looking for, and the equipment's category (electronics assembly, PWB).
