Garsh Richard...I don't know what to say...(sniff, sniff...) I'm all choked
up! I don't wanna seem ungrateful, but I would like to declare this TechNet
day in appreciation for having the luck and the karma to be able to be a small
part of this outstanding group of people.

It's people like each and everyone of you, that make me feel so lucky to have
the blind luck to fall into the career that I did...and it was truely blind
luck. I got out of the Navy in 1987 out here at Moffet Field, and had a freind
who was working at a contract assembly company that needed a SMT equipment
technicion.

Mark Knoepfler (he's still with Compaq/DEC in New Hampshire) and I served
together in the Navy, and he knew that I was mechanically inclined (I was a
Flight Engineer). So when I got out, he asked if I wanted to give a shot at
working on pick and place machines.

I went; "Huh? What's a pick and place machine?"
"Oh they're machines that place SMT components..." he said.
I asked; "What are SMT components?"

Well, he showed me, and remember I was so amazed at the CP-II's, FHP's, and
EP's that I knew I had to learn more. As they say, the rest is history. I look
back (only 12-years ago) and see what advances have been made since then and
it blows my mind.

What I've learned has been from people like you...I couldn't have done it by
myself. I'm so proud to be a part of this industry, on the cutting edge of
technology, learning something new every single day, who could ask for more?

I just want to say thanks, I really mean that...and I REALLY hope to meet a
lot of you at the Expo down in Long Beach!!

Thanks again!

-Steve Gregory-

P.S. I showed the email to my boss about letting me have the day off, but when
you're the only engineer at a start-up, that's kinda' hard to do. I'm waiting
for some processors to come out of test at LSI Logic for 10-protos I'm
building...it should be here anytime, they said 1:30. Gotta wolf down my
burger before they get here...
