Both Shainin and Taguchi techniques are popular approaches for reducing
the size of experiments.  We prefer Shainin because it's easier to
remember how to do an experiment when you haven't done one for a while.
Some criticise Shainin for what they percieve as a lack of mathematical
rigor.  We just want get some good numbers, maybe not perfect numbers,
get out of the way and let the process move on.
