Earl-

It is a privelage to offer anything I can to someone who has always helped
me. I appreciate the help I received from all when I first installed the
spray fluxer we are using, which is when we switched to no-clean. (Was that
here or over at SMTnet?)
We have IR pre-heaters (barbaric these days, I know) and I did have to
elevate the pre-heater temp. to properly heat the boards before the wave.
The profile is still ramping at an acceptable rate to protect the caps, but
the pre-heat settings were one of the initial hurdles.
I am more interested in changing to convection pre-heaters before I look at
inert. As was mentioned earlier the flux we are using is designed for air
atmosphere and seems to work well in it. For now I'll have to leave inert
for those with the big bucks :)Convection pre-heaters would give me finer
control over the ramp and more even heating. I remember earlier Technet
postings about self-installed convection tubing using drilled pipe. Has
anybody succesfully installed this and seen improved results?
