All the flight hardware, in which I was ever involved in design or assembly, specified conformal
coating. You said bearing housing and relatively dry. It seems this point needs detailed
clarification.

The one thing always explained, and often proven to me in flight, is that environmental extremes
cause some severe effects (moisture as but one example) no matter their location. A relatively dry
bearing housing can be see moisture condensation under such conditions.

I was only a designer and manufacturer at one time. The response now needed is from someone
responsible for creating the specifications based on failure analysis.

For your part, you may conduct HALT and/or HAST to determine cause and effect. I'm sure you've
already done this.
