Matthew,

We are going thru the same phase here in our plant.

Where we are today is that we will use the IPC-SM-782 as a starting point
and go from there. Our first episode went well. We got pad design
recommendations from the mfgr (NEC) to fine tune the design. We are now
looking into other mfgr recommendations, and the reps are not able to find
anything for this.

As we are in the infant stage of SM process in-house, we are taking extra
precaution to make sure we are designing something that will work.

Bottom line is, we have found it beneficial to blend mfgr and IPC info. Of
course if we can find any mfgr recommendations.

Hope this helps, and good luck.
