Brigitte, we use AOI of boards after developing of dryfilm on a regular basis. The machine is using special settings for this application by the engineers at Orbotech. The equipment we use is a Orbotech PC 1450.
The amount of "false defects" is as on boards after etching.
At the time of our investigations of AOI-possibilities, Orbotech was the only company who could deliver the needed equipment.

We are looking to AOI inspect silver halide films, diazo films,and use AOI
as a process control tool for the  inspection of dryfilm imaged and
developed boards. We are  evaluating both Gerber and Camtek AOI. Since we
don't have any practical experience with either one these machines, we would
like to hear from users  to help us make a more educated decision.
