You can use your actual assembly if it has conductor traces
on the surface of the board that are
1. not covered or protected by solder mask and
2. run parallel to one another for some distance and
3. can be isolated from other circuitry.
It is usually difficult to use actual assemblies because the
above conditions do not exist.
