The mass storage clean rooms have been using an ionizer tip at the end
of the air hose. On the air supply side of the tip and close to the tip
is an inline0.25/0.17um filter cartridge. A few caveats however:
        1. Use CDA (Clean dry air)
        2. If the air hoses have quick disconnect fittings, do not
lubricate. The lube will leave a residue on the ionizer tips (in my
experience, the tips are zinc chromate), and the ionizing voltage will
cause the tip to corrode. Thus you end up spraying particulates over the
thing you're cleaning.

Get me off-line & I can get you more details if necessary.

Subject: [TN] Particulate Removal

I wanted to see how the industry removes various particulates on
everything from office PCs which are being repaired to various
electronic assemblies in different stages of manufacturing. We use a
can of pressurized air and have measured static build-up levels which
are a concern. Does any one have a better idea?

Thanks for any help.
