I use it when I'm debugging prototypes but would be a bit nervous about
using it in production due to the bismuth content. The kit says to clean
the pad with solder wick after removing the component, but who knows how
much bismuth remains. It really works nicely, though, and is much cheaper
than a hot air system.

Subject: [TN] SMD Removal
Anyone have any experience with a SMD removal kit called Chip Quik? I used
it on a few of my test cards and was impressed. Are there any restrictions
on the use of this type of material? Any good or bad experiences with it?
Any info would be appreciated. Email [log in to unmask] if you'd prefer.
Thanks,
Dennis
