Derek,

It's been a while since I've done it but a few years back when I
worked at 3Com we did did a lot of ascii manipulation of viewdraw
files. If you are running on UNIX the shell scripts alone are very
powerfull. PERL is even better although I never learned it. The fact
that viewdraw schematics are stored in ascii format makes it very
easy to use scripts to automatically update part info or even change
a drawing number on multiple sheets with a short UNIX shell script.
