Hi all,

My Simm/Dimm modules are having solder on goldfinger problems. Before each
run, I will ensure that the conveyors are wiped with Kester 5240, a solvent
for no-clean paste that I am currently using for my products. A technician
will clean the interior of the reflow oven for fear of accummulation of
unreflowed solder paste on the fans, piping etc. Stencils are wiped clean
and the operators are to change a new set of gloves for fear of contamination.

However, no matter how careful we are, there is still some solder on the
goldfingers. I have performed a 100% inspection on all boards before reflow
but am disappointed at the results. What could have caused these goldfinger
problems? My team suspects the reflow oven is the root cause of these
problems. The paste particles are carried by convection which by some
chance landed on the goldfingers. If anyone has encountered such a problem
before, I would like to hear from u.

regards,
Boon Kiat
