This is not as simple as it sounds.
If the stain is water or a organic, try these things in the following order.
1. DI H2O on a cu-tip
2. 80%/20% H2O/IPA (isopropyl alcohol) solution on a cu-tip
3. 100% IPA on a cu-tip.
4. 100% O2 plasma, 12 min, ambient chamber temp.
Be careful using 100% IPA. IPA will not lift the stain it will simply smear it over the surface and give you an impression of it being removed. Use all above sparingly because you could actually add to the stain issue.
If the stain is of a metallic type, try these
1. 100% IPA
2. Last choice always use old ruby red eraser.

Subject: [TN] Gold Finger Stains
Can anyone tell me how to rework water spots or stains on gold fingers?
There are not that many, so there is no point to do rel testing to validate
it
is OK, but I don't want to just ship them to cutomers.
All help appreciated.
