Actually Signetics has been part of the Philips empire, (Philips
Electronics N.V. in Eindhoven) for a long time.  Back in the 80's it was
part of the North American Philips, a trust company of Philips NV, which
was set up during one of the World Wars so the Philips family would have
something in the event that the Netherlands was lost.
