     Have a look at the Nasa EEE links back issues at
http://misspiggy.gsfc.nasa.gov/ctre/hq/eee_links/.
Some of the articles are on parylene coating plastic packages in space
applications. In this case they are trying to stop outgassing from the
plastic body affecting other components, so it is a little different from
most extreme environments. There  is some data on diffusion of water and
ionic species that will work in the other direction as well.
