Graham,

Good point. Yes, these things among others were taken into consideration. In
fact, the blowers recirculate the air inside the dryer compartment, with a
small fresh air makeup fan assembly to provide cool room air into the
system. These functions were not changed. The exit enclosure modification
and skirt had a lot to do with raising the system in excess of 8" from the
floor to better facilitate maintenance access to the underside plumbing and
improve the effectiveness of the floor level sump pump. Raising the system
as such worsens the noise emissions significantly so additional sound
absorbing foam was laid on the floor beneath the system, and stainless steel
dress skirts were added for asthetic reasons. Staggered curtains and sound
foam were added to the exit enclosure to further reduce sound emission from
this very vulnerable area. This did have some effect on the ventilation of
the system, however the ducting (being modified anyway because of the
"lift") included adjustable dampers so airflow can be adjusted as required.
This mod had been done over a year ago and (after direct contact a few weeks
ago with the customer) no failures of any nature had occurred since!

Major modifications to critical production process equipment is not for the
faint of heart and should be left to those with experience, and I appreciate
your pointing this out.

Have a great weekend, all!
