Hi ya' Bev!

Well, they ain't picking the boards up 'till a little later on this
morning...and the guy that's picking them up won't get them until I chew his
butt a little for not letting me know they started using press-fits when he
dropped the box with the parts and pcb's off on Friday, and pleaded with my
boss to build the boards by today (GRIN).

You see, this is like the sixth proto we've put together for these guys
over the last 3-months, and none of their other boards used them before. BUT,
due to achieving my degree from the Rubin I. Goldberg University of
Manufacturing, or RIG-U for short, they got 2 assemblies today. :^)

I'm gonna let them know how I put the connector in, I'm pretty sure they
won't bother with doing any sort of destructive analysis on it, more than
likely probably will be tickled to death that I was able to put the two boards
it together without spending $1,000 for tooling ...they just want the boards
to work for a little while anyway, it's from a set of boards that are brand
spanking new protos.

I was real careful when I did the first one, believe you me. I also
looked carefully at everything under a microscope and didn't see any
fracturing, or any evidence of the laminate flexing around the barrels. The
pins appeared to have been embedded into the plating along their length as far
as I could see down the barrel from the bottom of the board, and the bottom of
the body of the connector is sitting flush and square to the PCB. When I did
the connector for second board, and I know this ain't scientific, but it just
"felt right" when I pressed it in.. and NO, my right arm is NOT on the
calibration program...B^D

Again, I don't want to give the wrong impression about my tip, it's just
meant to be some "bubble-gum or bailing-wire" when you're up a creek without a
paddle...
