Subject: Through hole vs SMT
Author: GREGORY SHERWOOD

I'm looking for information (ie: Trade studies, Technical briefs, papers...etc)
comparing the cost of: 100% through hole PWB design to SMT or mixed design
using PWB fabrication, e-comps, & ass'y time as cost criteria. Also would
like info. on reliability comparisons. The current design is 100% through hole
for a Military application. Current dwgs. utilize IPC's for PWB design &
fabrication rqmts, & J-STD for workmanship criteria. Even though the information
I'm seeking is is probably quite dated; (ie: late 70's, early 80's vintage) it
will serve my needs.
I would greatly appreciate any & all info. pertaining to above!
Thank You,
Greg
