     David,

I imagine that Hot Bar solder methods are used in many applications
and the following is not knocking those areas that work.

We used the hot bar on a 68-pin in-line connector on a PCMCIA card.
Again, not sure what your final application is!!! Again I stress, we
     used a 68-pin in-line connector for a PCMCIA card. Using No-clean
paste and flux we encountered repetitive solder shorts, opens and
insufficient solder with using the Hot Bar Method. I came up with a
solution to the problem and our defects at this location have
decreased by approx. 60% and our efficiencies have increased by 50%.
If your application is similar, I can provide you the specifics on
how to minimize defects and increase productivity.

A recent SMT magazine contained an article on hot bar soldering. I am
searching for information on this process.

     1) Equipment and manufacturers
     2) Process
     3) Design Guidelines

If anyone is currently using this process or has experience with it
and could provide me with some information I would appreciate it.
