     Yes Scott!

A long time ago our design team mistakenly did just that on a double
     sided CCA - t/h & sm.

You can probably guess the outcome, flowsoldering never gave us a
problem but when reflowed, total starvation through wicking & constant
touch up - pain in the proverbial!!

The obvious benefit would have been real estate gain.

     Regards Iain.

This question sparked one of my own: Does anyone have experience putting
through hole vias on or in the pads of chip components? Pros & Cons anybody?

Thanks
Scott Holthausen
