Yes Patty,

Repair of innerlayer traces is very common. Most use a Hughes welder that welds a gold ribbon "Kovar"  over the open. The ribbon is welded to the remaining trace at each end of the break. When done properly I have found internal weld to withstand the lamination cycle. Some may even apply a thin coating of epoxy over the weld to minimize the risk of handling damage. After an inner layer has come out of the etcher and you find a trace
that is broken, is there anyway that you can repair a copper trace (easy
access to it, i.e., not close to any other traces) that will withstand
the subsequent lamination cycle?
