Hi All,

Regarding the recent thread about RS274X format generated by Allegro, many
CAM vendors have difficulty compositing RS274X artwork data when the layer
polarity commands are used to move from light to dark.

In some cases on positive layers, where multiple shapes exist, the Allegro
RS274X output adds new LP clearance sections for each shape. This loads
into CAM stations as separate layers for each shape.

To help those using CAM stations which do not easily composite the data,
Cadence has addressed the issue with a patch to Allegro versions 11.5,
12.0, 12.2, and 13.0 artwork. Customers interested in this artwork patch
should call the Cadence hotline and ask for the patch associated with PCR
217760.

The raster RS274X format output by Allegro optimizes the data in such a way
as to keep the file size and layer count to a minimum. Cadence worked with
Gerber to develop our RS274X implementation and Allegro's RS274X output has
been "blessed" by Gerber.

Some CAM station vendors are not 100% RS274X compliant. This issue should
be raised with the CAM vendor. Cadence is ready to work with CAM vendors
who have difficulty reading our RS274X output. But, for obvious reasons,
we are reluctant to create different RS274X variants in order to be
compatible with CAM vendors who are not 100% compliant. Our goal is to
make sure our format is correct and to work with other vendors to reach the
same goal.

CAM vendors interested in working with Cadence should contact Barbara
Seeger ([log in to unmask]) or Mark Layden ([log in to unmask]).

Thank you,
