I received the following Memo from the Defense Logistics Agency:
Defense Supply Center Columbus
PO Box 3990
Columbus OH 43216-5000

I edited the June 11 1998 memo, below:

Mil-S-13949...and QPL-13949 are scheduled to be canceled November 30th 1998.
..... Manufacturers who supply printed wiring boards on Govenrment/military
contracts where MIL-S-13949 compliant product is specified should contact
their affected customers to [fix the documentation problem].

For those that wish to respons to this cancellation, please send questions
or comments to Monica Poelking, DSCC-VAC, at the address above, or email:
[log in to unmask], or phone at 614-692-0674, DSN 850-0674.

Signed by David E.Moore, Chief, Document Control Unit.

Sheila, give Monica a call. They sometimes have a suggested method you can
use to get the end users to remove the cancelled document from a current
contract.

Subject: [TN] Replacing Mil-S-13949
Date: Wed, 30 Sep 1998 14:28:06 -0400

Hey TechNetters -

For those of you who procure bare boards from fabricators for stuffing &
ultimate delivery to the military, how are you handling the cancellation of
Mil-S-13949? Has anyone already succeeded in getting their military
customers to grant program approval to use IPC4101 as the replacement
specification? What are you proposing for Teflon boards? IPC-L-125? If
someone has already hit on the magic words to get customer approval, could
you share your success story with me?

And to IPC, will an approved suppliers list for IPC4101 be issued to
coincide with the Nov 30th cancellation of the QPL for 13949? Is there a
revision or replacement for IPC-L-125 in the works for the near future?

Thanks in advance ........
