Hi Ed,

        I understand that there are some Nickel-Boron baths out there that will
have no Phosphorus; you might look into some of them. I'm not sure of the
particular chemistry that you are running, but as I recall the
Nickel-Phosphorus baths in general require the phosphorus to be maintained at
optimum to prevent cracking of the Nickel. Also the Phosphorus content was
related to the pH of the bath, all of which was related to the Nickel
properties.
  I don't know if they are still in existence, but Allied-Kelite used to
publish a great booklet on Nickel Plating.
