Greg,

Years ago when doing profiles for IR reflow ovens we found the best
results 2 ways.  1 run the thermocouple from the bottom of the part thru
a hole and solder it on the topside land.  or 2  laminate the
thermocouple inside the bare board to see heat absorbtion.
