We use Hot Bar soldering to attach Flat Ribbon Cables to PCB's.
We use Palomar Products (www.palpro.com) (formely Hughes) equipment,
also TODDCO has equipment. I read that Palomar now owns TODDCO.
Another equipment manufacturer is AIT (www.a-i-t.com).
The main issue with this process is the fixturing and if you use
solder quick tape (tape with solder) is easier but expensive. The
equipment suppliers can give you more information of this.

A recent SMT magazine contained an article on hot bar soldering. I am
searching for information on this process.
1) Equipment and manufacturers
2) Process
3) Design Guidelines
If anyone is currently using this process or has experience with it
and could provide me with some information I would appreciate it.
