Hi Folks:

I have experienced problems with the ability of Valor to read 274X gerbers using the G36 command for raster filled polygons.
I had one database I sent to our board house with 60 mil round global fiducials that were output from PADs PowerPCB using
G36. When we recieved our diazo checkplots, the fiducials came out as 60 mil donuts. After that, we included a fab note
that polygons drawn with G36 commands were to be filled. Whenever practical we also converted our raster filled polygons to
use a line width that would essentially fill in the "donut hole". No luck with chocolate coating and reselling them however -
hehehe. This workaround works best for fiducials where the aperture does not have to create a corner. It may get a bit
tricky if you have to draw a copper pour with corners therefore defeating the power of the raster filled polygon drawing
enhancement in 274X.

It does seem that at least for gerbers output from PADs PowerPCB to VALOR, there is a translation problem that needs to be
recognized and addressed up front. Whether the problem lies with PADs output possibly being non-standard or some deficiency
in VALOR's front end is the real topic for investigation. For now, the workaround seems to have settled the issue - until I'm
called upon to do more irregularly shaped copper pours.

                        Have a Golden Day,

Paul Anderson
