     Gregg,

This depends on a whole host of variables. If you want to keep the
design as robust (don't ya just hate that word?) as possible, then try
to stick to standard drill and pad sizes - say, .010" or .0125" drill
with .020" or .025" capture pads for buried. You can reduce cost by
designing the blind vias such that they can be control depth drilled.
However, you are severely limited in terms of aspect ratio. Most
shops that do this type of work have a lot of difficulty metalizing
blind vias with an aspect ratio of even 1:1. This goes even lower as
the drill diameter decreases. On the other hand, you can limit your
supplier base by going to .006" or .008" drills or even move into the
microvia arena. A lot depends on your package constraints.

You can contact me off line to discuss it further.

I am looking at doing a blind and buried via design. So I would like to know
how small a pad and hole can I design for?

Thanks
