Hi there,
A little additional point to consider:
when doing a "straight" step-and-repeat, it is very easy to generate the
instructions to cut a stencil for your SMT board. Take the stencil aperture
data and repeat it in X and in Y the given number of times with the given
step distances. That's the easy one.
However when an image is also rotated, the data needed for a single step is
not the normal step distance, but the distance in X and Y from a point on
the first image to that same point on the rotated image. Most fab-drawings
show these distances between mounting holes, however, most stencil data
files don't include mounting hole locations so all dimensional reference
between drawings and data file is absent. Ouch - result: delays -
frustrations, etc.
So when you design one of these types of panels, note what information is
available on eve layer. It would be nice if board or panel fiducials were
repeated on all layers and were used as reference points.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Ahne.

Hi Everybody!

I know when you're trying to reduce PCB costs when panelizing, you need
to work with your fab vendor when laying out a panel so your panel works
with
their standard panel sizes. But I've got a few general questions about board
orientation within a panel, and board surface finish.
