Yes, but make sure you stress the point that it's the NATURE of the residues
and not the quantity of the residues or their presence which is the problem.
High solids residues can perform very well under SIR testing. We don't want
to scare people away from flux residues. I feel the residues perform a
useful function in the soldering process. The no-clean side of the industry
went wrong in my opinion by pushing the low solids/low residue flux. People
naturally think residue is a problem if they can see it. If they can't see
it then there is no problem.
I personally would like to see higher solids content in the no-clean fluxes,
but the paste vendors know that regardless of SIR values, the words LOW
RESIDUE, Super Low, Extra Low (Diet Paste), sell more.
