S.S.White was the brand we used, course that was back in the good ole' days. And
sand abrasion is (cough-gasp) dusty, tolerances are +/- 10% (better if you buy a
good bridge w/control, but more $$$), VERY, VERY, (let me repeat, VERY) slow
process and you have to design wider resistors, cause instead of the 2.5 mil
laser kerf, you'll have a 50 mil wide gulley.
I would recommend, if budget is strained, that you purchase a brand name used
bare-bones YAG laser trimmer such as a Chicago laser model 33 or 37(they are now
ESI, but the older models will still be Chicago) or an ESI model 44. There are
real bargains out there and good spare parts support.
Good luck!

Dear Technetters,

I was told that abrasive trim is a lower cost alternative of laser trim for
less stringent requirements. Can anyone tell me who make those equipment
and what are the limitations (resistor size, precisions, reliability
implications, etc.).

Thanks!
