We used to batch clean RMA with one of the EC-7 family of solvents. I'm not
sure what the rinse was made up of or if it was even anyhing other than DI
water.

We are now using Water Soluble for wave and reflow, RMA for hand soldering
and cleaning all in an inline cleaner with Alpha 2110 and DI water. We did
clean RMA from wave and reflow in this rig before going to WS.

Subject: [TN] Batch cleaning of SMT RMA fluxes

To TechNet,

We are currently running a dishwasher type batch cleaner
(AqueousTechnologies Model RU400) and Kyzen XJN (30% concentration) are
having difficulties removing flux residues from our SMT assemblies with RMA
solder paste (ESP 63/37 RMA flux).

Our current parameters are 155 F for wash chemistry for 9 Minutes, 100 F
water rinse for total of 15 minutes, and 12 min. dry @ 120 F.

We would like to hear from Techneters who are successfully using batch
cleaners to remove RMA fluxes in terms of machine mfr., chemistry type,
wash
and rinse parameters.

thanks in advance,

Ken Devitt Tom Long
