Hi Dan,

How have you been. I have also seen an increase in pink ring. My research has indicated that the most significant changes has been in the designs provided. I have seen an increase in designs that no longer use a thermal pad on the innerlayers. via holes are being drilled directly thru solid ground planes. I have been advised that the change is related to capacitance issue.

Even with the oxide reducers, I do not believe the actual "pink ring" phenomenon was every really eliminated. Just reducted to the point that it was no longer apparent from the outerlayers. The small amount a pink ring that was still present was hidden by the outerlayer pads. The use of thermal pads still "limited" the amount of "growth". In any case. that is my opinion based on what I have seen. I'm sure you will receive other thoughts.

Dan Pedroza ([log in to unmask]) announces a Chat session with topic
"Pink Ring Question".
The Chat session will be held on 08/07/98, at 2:10 P.M. pdt
(Please note the time zone - it might be different from yours)

Dan Pedroza's comments:
We have just installed 2 new machines
and rearranged our existing machines.
We have just recently experienced pink ring
with no prior history. If we did not ground all
machines would it start this phenomenon?

Has anybody else experienced this type of
problem?
