Chris,
When you ask "what is the typical shelf life of immersion tin?" you want
to be sure that you're talking about OMIKRON. Immersion tin has been around a
long time but not in the form that it is being offered now. If you saw a
study done by shipley that was done a couple of years ago chances are they
were using grey tin immersion for their comparison study. The conventional
grey immersion tin and the OMIKRON white tin are worlds apart. If you would
like to see some magnafied SEM photos comparing OMIKRON White Tin to the
conventional tin immersion of the past I would be happy to supply them for
you, matter of fact I've already scanned them and can e-mail them to you.
To everyone on TechNet, I understand this forum is not to be used as a
sales tool and I try not to cross the line between providing information and
selling a product. However, in the case of White Tin Immersion I'm aware of
only two vendors in the United States that even offer this finish and I'm one
of them, so when the subject comes up on this forum you'll see me getting
involved.
