Graham,
The bulk feeder usually has an orientation option for resistors that
uses a photocell to measure the reflected light off of the bright
(ceramic) or dark (black/blue0 surface and rejects upside down chips.
Feeders specific to chip capacitors do not have this option or it is not
installed.
