Ryan,
We faced the same situation last year setting up this new plant.
After intense scrutiny of all of the above we choose the Datapaq/ Wave
optimizer option. I had used a mole and Datapaq before for Reflow
profiles, but had no experience with the optimizer. The other M.E. here
had used the optimizer, but not the waverider. We got demo's on all of
them. I like the Software of the Datapaq the best and we liked the data
from the optimizer better then what we got from the waverider. Mainly
because we did not like the way the wave rider had to calculate wave height
based on a time/distance calculation vs. a real measurement like the
optimizer gives.

Like you say, the pretty much do the same things, just that the
software makes the difference. The Kic was pretty cool and has new
software, but don't go after the RF stuff, we had no luck with that.
Datapaq has been a good company to work with and I have had no problems
with the equipment. Good luck.

Subject: [TN] Thermal Profilers

Good day,

I am currently searching for a thermal profiler. We currently have
an Electrovert EPK wave solder and we are just determining which
reflow oven we are going to purchase. I would like to find the right
combination to profile both of these machines.

My choices are:

Wave Solder Optimizer & Datapaq
Mole & Waverider
Kic profiler

My question is basically, what do other people use? The functioning
of the unit is basically the same all around but the software is the
important part. I have used moles in the past and I downloaded the
Kic demo. Has anyone used the Datapaq profiler?

Do I need a special profiler for the wave?

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
