Hello TechNetters,
I got some devices from Analog Devices, Altera, Philips etc. with a
package called "240-pin Power Quad Flat Pack" and some others from
Xilinx "240-Pin Plastic PQFP" which meet all dimensions from
IPC-SM-782A RLP-No. 631A "SQFP 32x32-240" but the dimension L is not
34.00 mm +- 0.2 mm as in IPC-SM-782A, it is 34.60 mm +- 0.20 or 0.25
mm in reality and on the data sheets from AD, Altera, Philips and
Xilinx.
Is this a fully other (JEDEC-) package type than that one from
IPC-SM-782A?
Is something wrong in the IPC standard?
Is this the IC manufacturer's freedom not to follow standards??????
I just missed the chance to make some unsolderable prototypes,
because the customer unpacked his ALTERA and placed it on the
checkplots........
Thanx, regards
Matthias Mansfeld
